Liffort Wayne Hobley, born on May 12, 1962, has carved a multifaceted and impactful journey throughout his life. Graduating from C. E. Byrd High School, Hobley’s athletic prowess led him to become a professional American football safety in the National Football League (NFL). Notably, he was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 3rd Round of 1985.

Embarking on his NFL journey, Hobley spent his debut season with the St. Louis Cardinals before joining the Miami Dolphins for the remaining seven seasons of his eight-season career. Remarkably, he still holds the record for the most sacks by a defensive back with 6. Hobley etched his name in history by scoring the first defensive touchdown at Joe Robbie Stadium.

His college football career blossomed at Louisiana State University, where he played for the LSU Tigers football team under the guidance of Jerry Stovall from 1980 to 1983. Hobley’s achievements were acknowledged with All-SEC honors from 1983 to 1985, and he continued to excel under the coaching of Bill Arnsparger in 1984-85.

Post his playing career, Hobley became a pivotal figure in the Miami Dolphins organization, serving as Player Relations from 1994 to 1997. He also contributed to community service as a Board Member for Women in Distress of Broward County, developing a Domestic Violence Speaker Panel of NFL Players and aiding in securing sponsors for a new Domestic Violence Shelter in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, named after Jim and Jan Moran.

Currently, Hobley has transitioned to a successful career as a Tax and Accounting Software Consultant for Wolters Kluwer’s CCH, catering to top accounting and tax firms across the United States. Simultaneously, he remains an engaged member of the Fort Worth Police Department Community and serves as the Dallas Chapter President of NFL Alumni, overseeing the well-being of over 2000 NFL Alumni, former staff members, and cheerleaders since 2017.

Further showcasing his commitment to social causes, Hobley has taken on roles as a Business Advisor on the Board of Tackle Hunger Souper Bowl of Caring since 2022. Additionally, he serves as a Business Advisor to One Community USA, supporting CEO Toni Brinker’s initiatives. Hobley’s diverse and impactful contributions both on and off the field exemplify a life dedicated to excellence, community service, and leadership.
